To reach the level of the top network marketing gurus then just take a page out of our martial arts school’s book for how we help students achieve their black belts. When a student says they want to earn their black belt they need to demonstrate commitment by doing a few things.
First, they must have at least earned one belt beyond their white belt. This demonstrates that they have been part of the school long enough to understand how we operate and the art that they are committing too. This would be comparable if you make sure that you are in the right network marketing parent company with the right upline. Don’t ignore this MLM tip.
Second, the student fills out an application. The application form includes questions about ‘Why do you want to earn your black belt?’ ‘What will it mean to you?’.
One of my favorite questions on the form is, ‘List at least two obstacles that you may encounter on your road to black belt AND how you can overcome them.’ So often we set a goal for ourselves to accomplish something big but we don’t expect any rough patches. No, no, NO!!!! That is so backward.
You ought to know by now that life is full of the unexpected, sometimes the unpleasant unexpected. The best network marketing strategy I can give you is to prepare for some of that challenge so you don’t get cowed by it and allow yourself to become defeated.
In my opinion it is equally important to see your future life, create your vision board, and get tied into all the positive vibes you also need to consider the pitfalls and prepare yourself equally for those. Make sure you have the gumption, the dedication, the commitment, the MLM formula and the perseverance to make it through the tough times. Align yourself with motivating professionals who can help you navigate those tarpits of self-pity, worry, doubt, and regret.
So right now, write down some of your challenges that you might see ahead for you building your business. Consider the network marketing strategy you are embarking on, consider your life (family, home, community), all of those other obligations that can get in the way. Determine how you are going to be, what can you do to manage any crisis that come up, whether external (i.e. a close family member has a bad accident) or internal (you tend to get depressed when you don’t get immediate results and you can lose your hope).
Really think of some possibilities and imagine yourself responding to them in the best possible way. What would you do? How would you handle it? What is going to be your secret MLM system to overcome any obstacles?
The final thing that someone does as they are welcomed into our Black Belt Training Program is they are presented with the black belt that they will actually wear when they earn it. It has their name embroidered on it and they get to hold it for a few moments and look at it. Then, with a loud declaration they say, “I WILL be a black belt!” holding the black belt in both hands over their head.
Then their black belt is hung in a special place in the martial arts school for them to see every time they come into class. This is really powerful.
What is a black belt in your network marketing business? What is the rank that would mean that for you? Get something physical that represents that rank. It could be a pin or other piece of jewelry, a ribbon, or something else (preferably something that would be recognized in your company as associated with that rank).
Look in the mirror, straight into your eyes, hold it up over your head and declare, “I WILL be a __[insert rank]__.” Put that tangible reminder in your vision book or someplace where you will see it every day when you go to work on your business.
You will find that regardless of the network marketing strategy you are implementing, traditional or internet marketing, you will create the MLM systems that ensure the success you are looking for.
